Black Swallowtail

[Black Swallowtail picture] Black Swallowtails lay eggs on Parsley and plants of the carrot family. They nectar on phlox, milkweed, Hesperis and Mexican Sunflower. One of the largest and most spectacular butterflies, it is found in most of southern Canada. Heart-leafed Alexanders is the preferred host plant in Manitoba.
